Cellular Respiration (Aerobic vs. Anaerobic)

Aerobic respiration requires oxygen, while anaerobic respiration (also known as fermentation) does not.
Both occur after glycolysis.

Aerobic Respiration-
If oxygen is available, the Krebs cycle and electron transport chain follow after glycolysis; this causes cellular respiration. It is the process that releases energy by breaking down glucose and other food molecules. This happens in the mitochondria. Pyruvic acid is broken down into carbon dioxide in a series of energy-extracting reactions during the Krebs cycle.
